About Crop PDF

Scans often come with a black border or a huge margin. Drag on the preview to select the part you want to keep — one click crops every page.

How to crop a PDF — step by step

  1. Upload the PDF.
  2. Drag the crop box around the area you want to keep.
  3. Apply it to every page, or only to the pages you choose.
  4. Download the cropped file.

Getting rid of wasted space

Scans usually carry a wide grey border where the scanner glass showed past the paper. Photographs of documents include the table underneath. Cropping removes it, which makes the document larger and easier to read on a phone, and looks far more professional when printed.

Cropping is also how you pull one region out of a page — a single table, a diagram, the address block from a letter.

What cropping does not do

Cropping hides the area outside the box rather than deleting it. The content is still in the file, and some viewers can reveal it. So do not crop to hide a signature or an account number and assume it is gone — for that, use Flatten PDF afterwards, which bakes the visible page in and leaves nothing to recover.

Frequently asked questions

What if I only want to crop one page?

Untick 'Apply to every page'.

Can I get the cropped part back?

Your original file is untouched, so nothing is lost.

Is my file uploaded?

No, cropping is done in your browser.

Can I crop pages differently?

Apply one crop, then run the tool again on other pages.

Does cropping reduce the file size?

Only slightly, because the hidden content is still stored.

Can I undo a crop?

Not from the cropped file, but your original is unchanged.
