About Multiple Pages per Sheet

Printing notes or a presentation costs less than half the paper when several pages share a sheet. The layout, the gap and the border are all up to you.

How to print multiple pages on one sheet — step by step

  1. Upload the PDF.
  2. Choose how many pages go on each sheet — 2, 4, 6 or 9.
  3. Download the new file and print it.

Saving paper and toner

Putting four pages on one sheet cuts a hundred-page printout to twenty-five sheets. For lecture notes, drafts, reference material and anything you are going to read rather than submit, this is the single easiest way to cut printing costs — and at a print shop it is the difference between paying for a hundred pages and paying for twenty-five.

How small is too small

Two pages per sheet stays comfortable to read. Four is fine for anything printed in a normal size. Six and nine are really for a visual overview — proofing a layout, checking a presentation — rather than reading.

Making the file this way rather than using your printer's own N-up setting means the layout is fixed in the PDF, so it comes out the same on any printer, including at a print shop where you cannot reach the driver settings.

Frequently asked questions

Will it still be readable?

Up to 4 pages, comfortably. Nine pages per sheet is really only for reference.

What printer setting should I use?

Print at Actual size / 100%.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The new layout is built in your browser.

Which order are the pages placed in?

Reading order — left to right, then down.

Can I print double-sided as well?

Yes. Combine this with your printer's duplex setting and nine pages become one sheet of paper.

Will the text be readable at 4-up?

For normally sized text, yes.
