View and change the title, author and other details
Does the PDF you are sending still show somebody else's name as the author? All the file's details are shown here, and you can change them and save a new copy.
Every PDF carries hidden fields. The author name is usually whoever was logged into the computer that made it, so a document created on an office machine may quietly carry a colleague's name, or the name of the software and the shop that scanned it. Nobody sees this on the page, but anyone can open the document properties and read it.
Before sending a CV, a tender or anything to a stranger, it is worth a look. Clearing the fields takes a second.
The other direction is equally useful. A proper title shows in the browser tab and in search results when a PDF is published on a website, and it is what most document management systems index. 'Annual Report 2026 — Sharma Traders' is more helpful than 'Document1.pdf'.
