About PDF Properties

Does the PDF you are sending still show somebody else's name as the author? All the file's details are shown here, and you can change them and save a new copy.

How to edit PDF properties — step by step

  1. Upload the PDF to see the title, author, subject, keywords and creating software stored inside it.
  2. Edit any field, or clear them all.
  3. Download the file with the new properties.

The information you did not know you were sending

Every PDF carries hidden fields. The author name is usually whoever was logged into the computer that made it, so a document created on an office machine may quietly carry a colleague's name, or the name of the software and the shop that scanned it. Nobody sees this on the page, but anyone can open the document properties and read it.

Before sending a CV, a tender or anything to a stranger, it is worth a look. Clearing the fields takes a second.

Filling them in on purpose

The other direction is equally useful. A proper title shows in the browser tab and in search results when a PDF is published on a website, and it is what most document management systems index. 'Annual Report 2026 — Sharma Traders' is more helpful than 'Document1.pdf'.

Frequently asked questions

Where do these details appear?

In File → Properties in any PDF reader — and search engines read them too.

Does the old date disappear?

A fresh modification date is written in.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The properties are read and rewritten in your browser.

Does this remove everything hidden in the file?

It clears the standard document properties. It does not remove content hidden behind a crop or a white box — flatten the file for that.

Will it change how the document looks?

No. Only the invisible properties change.

Can I see who made a PDF?

You can see what the author field says, which is often but not always the truth.

🔒 Everything on this page happens inside your browser. Your file is never uploaded to a server.
