Cut one page into two — for book scans
Scanning a book or a register puts two pages on every sheet. This tool cuts down the middle and separates them, and you choose which half comes first.
Photographing an open book captures two pages at once, so a hundred-page chapter becomes fifty wide, awkward pages. On a phone they are unreadable — you have to zoom and scroll to read half a page at a time.
Cutting each sheet down the middle gives you single pages in the right reading order, which makes the file usable on a phone and correct to print.
The cut is a straight line down the centre, so it works best when the photograph was taken square-on with the spine in the middle. If your scans are tilted, straighten them first with the Document Scanner, otherwise the cut will slice through text at the top or bottom of the page.
Wide margins left over after cutting can be trimmed with Crop PDF.
