Stamp your name or COPY across every page
When you send a copy of a document, writing CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT or your shop's name across it is the simplest protection there is. Choose the text, colour, opacity and angle, and it goes onto every page at once.
It marks a document's status or ownership so a copy cannot be passed off as something it is not: DRAFT on a version still being revised, CONFIDENTIAL on something internal, or your own name across a scanned ID so a photocopy cannot easily be reused by someone else.
That last use is worth knowing. When you hand a photocopy of your Aadhaar or PAN to a hotel, a courier or an agency, writing the purpose and date across it — 'for hotel check-in, 12-03-2026' — makes it much harder to reuse elsewhere. Keep it faint enough that the details underneath stay readable, or the office will refuse it.
Around 20–30% opacity is the sweet spot: clearly visible, but the text underneath still reads. Diagonal across the middle is hardest to crop out; a corner watermark is easily trimmed away.
A watermark added here is drawn onto the page, but a determined person with the right tools can still peel it off. To make that much harder, run the result through Flatten PDF.
